MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – ROGUE NATION – Reviewed by Noah

Tom Cruise leads an all-star cast in the most recent Mission: Impossible. And he does it all. He runs, shoots, flips, woos, and stares at people. There are other people in the movie, but that seems to barely detract from the fact that Tom Cruise is amazing.

This time around, Cruise and the other people are out to take down a shadow organization very much like their own IMF. They’re called the Syndicate (think of them as any Star Trek cast member, but with a goatee, to signify that they are from the evil mirror universe). They have evil agents, with evil goals, under the thumb of their evil boss. They’re bad guys. And Cruise aims to take them down with the help of his team.

In all seriousness, the supporting cast is really pretty good. Simon Pegg as the tech guy, Jeremy Renner as the straight shooter (figuratively, not literally), Ving Rhames as the other, more imposing, tech guy, are all very good, and lend most of the comic relief to the film. Alec Baldwin is in there as the head of the CIA. Just looking at him makes me giggle most of the time.

Like any good spy movie, there’s also a lady who beats people up, and still makes time to have meaningful eye contact with Cruise. This time, it’s Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson. She manages to be the coolest person in the movie without upstaging Cruise, which was in her contract.

It’s a fun action movie, with plenty of chases, shooting, planes, explosions and maniacal pseudo nerds.

I definitely recommend watching it.

Also, it stars Tom Cruise. – [DVD] [Blu-Ray]
